We had a money fortnight in our class and we were learning about the cost of living. During our money fortnight we were looking at how to budget. One of our activities was called Cook for the Day. We had a sheet with prices and we needed to make a menu for four people for less than £6. We had also compared prices of a supermarket’s own basic brand and branded items. We decided it would be nice to invite our parents to our classroom to see all our hard work, read our magic box stories that we had been writing and take part in some activities. The class enjoys baking so we decided to make some cakes for the mums and dads. We made ginger cake, banana loaf, cold tea loaf and a loaf of bread. There was also tea and coffee served by Mrs Hayward. We charged an entrance fee of 50p to cover the cost of all the ingredients. Everyone who came really enjoyed seeing our work and eating what we had made.
